The BooneBlock - Covington, Ky
Background
Urban Blooms was proud to be part of the Midwest’s first “Living Mural” project in collaboration with the artist collective, The London Police. The Boone Block installation in Covington, Kentucky was produced as a memorial to resident Mike Amenn. Amenn brought artists to the city from around the world as part of a public art movement, including his friends The London Police. Mike is memorialized at the center of the mural, piloting the entire show.
Outcome
At the base of the mural, set within a whimsical, futuristic landscape, Urban Blooms designed a living wall that echoes and enhances the mural’s dynamic contours. Through carefully selected plant varieties and thoughtful planting patterns, the living wall creates a visual sense of motion that brings the artwork to life. Installed on a north-facing façade of the revitalized Boone Block residential building, the wall adds 350 square feet of vibrant green space to the urban environment. This groundbreaking project was made possible with support from the Catalytic Fund, an organization committed to accelerating urban development and fueling the ongoing renaissance of Northern Kentucky.
