Naples Airport Living Walls

Biophilia in Florida!

When the Naples Airport began planning the renovation of its main terminal lobby, the design team envisioned two large living walls as stunning centerpieces to connect travelers with the natural beauty of the region. A third living wall, installed on the building’s exterior and featuring vibrant orchids and bromeliads, was added to seamlessly blend the indoors with the tropical landscape of Naples, Florida. To bring this ambitious vision to life, the airport launched a nationwide search for the ideal living wall designer and installer. Impressed by the quality and depth of our portfolio, they reached out to Urban Blooms. The design and construction team met directly with our founder, lead engineer, and living wall designer, Tyler Wolf, who addressed every question and concern with clarity and expertise.

Naples Living Wall Challenges

Urban Blooms’ expertise and accessibility gave the Naples Airport the confidence to award us the contract, despite our team being located over 800 miles away. This distance inspired us to further innovate, enhancing our systems to allow for remote monitoring and adjustment from anywhere in the world. To ensure ongoing care, we established a hybrid maintenance model by partnering with a trusted local plant care company, who provides regular status updates to our team. Periodically, our staff visits the site to perform in-depth checks and make any necessary irrigation adjustments. This approach ensures the long-term success and visual impact of the installation while offering a cost-effective solution for remote project management.

Outcome

The result was a series of stunning installations that serve as a living tribute to the beauty of Naples, Florida. All plants were locally sourced within 100 miles, representing over 40 different species. The interior living walls stretch from floor to ceiling, framed by the elegance of a marble-clad lobby, creating a striking biophilic design feature that seamlessly blends luxury with nature. Upon completion, the project received overwhelmingly positive feedback from clients and contractors alike, with several remarking that they had seen living walls around the world, but none as breathtaking as those crafted by Urban Blooms. A few months later, we were honored to be featured in Gulfshore Business magazine in a special article covering the airport renovation. We look forward to continuing our work in Naples and bringing more custom living walls to Florida’s Gulf Coast.
